The 2014 Nursing Education Capacity and Nursing Supply Report is Available Online

The mission of the Louisiana Center for Nursing is to contribute to the health and welfare of Louisiana’s residents and visitors through activities that are directed to ensure that there is an adequate workforce to meet the current and future healthcare needs of the citizens of the state of Louisiana. The 2014 Nursing Education Capacity and Nursing Supply Report contains valuable information about Louisiana’s ability to prepare future nurses, as well as information about the current supply of registered nurses. For example:

Did you know?

  • There were over 62,000 RNs licensed to practice in Louisiana in 2014

  • The passage rate on the NCLEX-RN for graduates from Louisiana’s pre-RN licensure programs continues to exceed that of the nation in spite of the higher passing standard implemented in April 2014 by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN)

  • In 2013-2014 over half of the nurse faculty teaching in pre-RN programs in Louisiana were 51 and older.
