The 2012 Nursing Education Capacity and Nursing Supply Report is Available Online

The mission of the Louisiana Center for Nursing is to contribute to the health and welfare of Louisiana’s residents and visitors through activities that are directed to ensure that there is an adequate workforce to meet the current and future healthcare needs of the citizens of the state of Louisiana. The 2012 Nursing Education Capacity and Nursing Supply Report contains valuable information about Louisiana’s ability to prepare future nurses, as well as information about the current supply of registered nurses. For example:

Did you know? 

  • There were over 59,000 RNs licensed to practice in Louisiana in 2012 
  • The passage rate for graduates from Louisiana’s pre-RN licensure programs on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses has exceeded that of the national pass rate over the past 5 years 
  • The percentage of licensed RNs prepared at the baccalaureate or higher degree level in Louisiana exceeded the nation
